Who can apply for Marriage Registration?

If you are already married you can apply for the marriage registration certificate under two acts one is the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955 and the other one is the Special Marriage Act, 1954. Where both the husband and wife belong to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains or Sikhs or where they have converted into any of these religions, the Hindu Marriage Act is applicable. Eligibility Conditions

  • Bride’s age is just more than 18 years and groom’s age is just more than 21 years

  • Either of Groom and Bride should be a citizen of India.
